The johnwoods band, hailing from Adelaide South Australia formed in late 2006 after a great response around Adelaide to john's solo performances. As a solo entity john supported many of the nations top touring artists including Xavier Rudd, Lior, and Ash Grunwald. This trend continues today with the full band as the guys continue to shared the stage with national touring roots performers. So who's in the band? Tim Bennett - on bass guitar - Tim's got around 15 years of live experience under his belt, and has developed a reputation as one of the top jazz session players in South Australia . In short, Tim's playing needs to be seen to be believed. A recent review by Philip Darbyshire on the boys performance along side Ash Grunwald spoke of Tim's playing as "one of the most understated but brilliant virtuoso performances I've seen in a long time." Dan Ryan - on kit and hand percussion -Dan recently graduated from the University of Adelaide 's Conservatorium of music and is an experienced session player. A warm guy with a precise yet suitably restrained approach to kit drumming. There's always guest musicians dropping by, Trombonist Gavin Clarke, Guitarist and Dilruba player Josh Bennett (Dya Singh) and recently Mal Webb joined the guys for a few songs at their sold out show at the Wheatshief Hotel (thanks Mal!) At its core, there's 3 guys with a shared passion for music, human engagement and last but not least.. the johnwoods band.
